We take a long-term view in our approach to sustainability. Our aim is to fulfil the needs of our customers now without compromising the resources of the future through focused activities in four key areas - Environment, Products, Communities and People.
Our sustainability board was formed in 2006 as our proactive approach to the UK government's Food Industry Sustainability Strategy.
The board identifies key stakeholders, prioritises topics and assigns management responsibilities.
Through engagement with our stakeholders, we have identified the following key long-term focuses:
- Reducing our environmental impact
- Sourcing healthier, locally-sourced and more sustainable foods
- Providing accurate information on food labelling
- Supporting local communities
